A few weeks ago, Cara and I went to the Titans game. she got me tickets for my birthday/wedding anniversary! Although it was one of the worse losses at LP field in history, we still had a great time.
A bunch of the fans, and I man 3/4 of the stadium, cleared out after the half and another interception by Hasselback.
The mood of the crowd was dismal, dark, and down on such a beautiful day. The sun was out although we thought it was going to be crazy hot. If you add a not so good outing of your team, weather, and beer, you come up with some pretty good stuff!
Around the middle of the 4th quarter, I think Cara turned to people watching. I really had no choice either. Yeah It was that bad to watch.
A "Bubba", and I call him that by first impression, had all he could stand. There was a Texan fan who still waved his flag and cheered loudly when anything would happen in his horn hat. Another poor decision was called and Titans were stopped for a loss. Good to see all that money go to work. And they want fans to pay a stadium tax for renovations. But I digress.
So, back to the guy in the camouflage I will call Bubba. The dismal play calling led him to finally burst. He shouted down to the field, Hey you Mother (F bomb)ers, get your (f bomb)ing heads out you GD a**es. Just as soon as he settled back in his seat with his arms folded and his wal-mart greeter of a girlfriend gave him the stink eye, the the sunny day became dark.
A rather swollen man, that reminded me of Debo from the movie Friday, stood up. felt like he blocked the sun he was so big! He was also about to make it rain on Bubba's parade!
"Debo jumps up and says, "Hey man my kid is right here!" And as if he didn't say it loud enough to make the whole section pay attention, he said it again, but louder!
The look on this mans face told me it was pretty much over for Bubba!
Some small banter was exchanged and things took a turn for the worse. Bubba wasn't backing down and Debo got even hotter. Bubba mumbled something and Debo yelled What the "F" are you going to. Let's go then. If not shut the (F bomb) up.
Here lies my dilemma. Should I be amazed that a father stood up for his child? Or should I be in awe that he showed the same exact behavior that he was defending his child for? A simple, hey please don't use that language would have done the job. Maybe not, but I like to think so. By showing aggression and also telling the cussing Bubba to shut the "F" up after getting mad in the first place for him using bad language is completely confusing to me! I wonder how the kid felt?
After a neck jerk, a crack of the knuckles, and a stare that made me kinda have to pee my pants, "Debo" sat back down. He was rocking back and forth still mad from the altercation. "Bubba" on the other hand kept shaking his head and I could tell that he too was about to pee his pants in from fright!
A few more 3 and outs and the game was coming to an end. Here is where the story took a turn for a better. The 2 men finally cooled down and actually started talking about kids, football, and other small chit chat. I think they even exchanged names to later become FB friends! Good for them!
I still wonder, what did the kid think? Did he go to school the next day and say, " Me and my daddy went to a Titans game". Or was it more like "My daddy almost got in a fight because a man talked like he does all the time!"
