So long summer

Well, chalk up another summer break in the books. It went pretty well I guess. We never did find out who the mystery pooper was though. I had to switch shifts to accommodate my moderate bed rest wife. Thanks to FJ and fitz for filling in the gaps for me. I gotta say though getting off at 3 is pretty cool. When you get off at 6 every day you pretty much eat dinner and then get ready for bed.
Meetings all this week and then back to time to make the donuts schedule. 6am I'm not going to like you, even though my internal clock always wakes me up before that anyways.

DJ old fart

So today reaches a new era in thinking. As I peel the calendar off tomorrow to a new month, I can't stop to think about my thought process as father time has added 1 more year to my old bag of bones. The following is just a representation of how time changes the way you think.

Yesterday, I thought, "I wonder what Anderson is going to wear today"? Today, I thought, "I wonder what college Anderson will go to'? Yesterday I pondered how many people will show up to hear me DJ? This morning on the drive to work I wondered what age I would retire?
Getting old sucks. It never even has been a though that I was in fact getting older. So when I look at my clothes, the music, and lifestyle I live, I don't think much has changed. And here lies the problem! Isn't the aging process supposed to be like wine or cheese and get better with age? I mean I'm still DJing to a bunch of 18 year olds. Do they look at me like why is this old dude trying to play our music? Maybe they are. But maybe if I'm rocking a party, or stomping a box on the mountain, people will look at me and think that dude still has it.
Well folks, I never had it! I never wanted it! In fact, me and Brent used to steer so clear form it, that our moms thought we needed help! Somewhere between then and now, I've realized that it, isn't it at all. There was a saying that I heard a while back and used to use it in my signature. "If you're not now, you never were".
And then comes the math. Anderson is 3. When she's driving, I'll be getting senior citizen discount notifications. When she graduates high school I will be going on 31 years out of HHS. Don't get me started on when she gets married, has kids, and then her kids have kids!
I'd keep going, but my old mind has went off in another direction, and I can't even remember where my thought process was going!
Hey birthday..........................................suck it!
Getting old is for old people!

good read

Infographic of the Day: Is College Really Worth It?
BY Cliff KuangMon Dec 21, 2009
What do kids really do when they go off to college? Answers: Facebook like maniacs and spend money they don't have.

Is going to college really worth it? Probably so, but it's not that clear cut, and economics have been arguing the point for 30 years. Most studies tend to show that college-educated people end up making far more money in the course of their lifetimes. (The niggle: Usually, it's not worth paying for a private university.)

Still, that evidence isn't totally cut and dry: What do you really learn in college? Is what you learned in college really what's producing the value? Or is it simply the mere fact of having a college degree? Or maybe there's something more subtle going on--that is, people who go to college tend to be more motivated or hard-working and would have ended up succeeding whatever they did?

This graph makes a couple points in that debate: 1. Whatever kids are doing in college, it doesn't seem to be about getting an education. (Witness how students spend their hours every week.) 2. Some majors don't really qualify you for much.

college

But who in their right mind wouldn't recommend a college degree?

If I had a guess, I think it's precisely that attitude that creates all the economic advantages--its the way our society is organized, rather than anything about college itself. What's totally clear is that we definitely do not go about attending or paying for college in a way that makes any sense at all.

Back

So we went to Destin Florida on vacation this past week. It was good to get away from things for a while. AK is browner than a biscuit. She did really well in the pool and finally at the beach. The seaweed was a bit "gooey" she said. It's pretty sad to think about how many things will be ruined due to the oil spill. It's weird to think that we lived through some of these events that will change the way out kids will learn in their history books. Floods, disasters, and all kinds o crazy things. I gave a homeless hitchhiker a protein bar. Just doing my part in the big scheme of things I guess.
I'll post the pics on facebook.

words ending in..

Stupid Words with friends. Or should I put it in words that only Kyle might use to get 50 points....Yokel-like beside collaborators. I mean some of these words that I'm seeing. Man I'm on a 200 level AR people. Moms, take credit. English teachers, take credit. If I ever write a book, I will seek wisdom in KyrandallO.
To my chums who keep playing me and loosing I say thanks for the uplift of my spirits.
This stupid game is addicting and had been moved to the home page on my apps! I almost wish I was a little bit nerdier so I could excel at this. The funny thing is that it's not about being a superior speller, a top scholar in vocabulary, or a whiz at scrabble. It's my stinking drive to be competitive and the fact that I hate to loose in any shape or form.
So there. I said it.
Triple letter and triple word this, "Loosing Blows anytime!"
that is all

april fools

It's that time of year again. What time? April fools time. I am usually plotting planning to get somebody pretty good. The fact of the matter is I just don't really have the time and energy into it this year. so if I have tricked you in years prior, remember the good old days. And if you haven't fallen victim to any of my tom foolery, consider it an invitation for next year. Stay on your toes!
Here is what the web considers some of the best hoaxes of all time.
